A decreased DNA damage response in "senescent" T cells

IBA researchers have discovered that upregulation of miR-24 is associated with a decreased DNA damage response upon etoposide treatment in highly differentiated CD8+ T cells sensitizing them to apoptotic cell death. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22435726

A a novel function of Carbonic anhydrase III (CAIII), a enzyme acting as antioxidant in fat tissue, has been discovered

IBA researchers (Mitterberger et al., 2012) discovered in collaboration with the research group of Rodney L. Levine (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA) a novel function of Carbonic anhydrase III (CAIII), a enzyme acting as antioxidant in fat tissue. They showed that CAIII is a regulator of adipogenesis in adipocyte progenitor cells.
